Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision Thursday to allow the continued use of North Carolina’s gerrymandered congressional districts, America Votes President Greg Speed released the following statement:

“Today’s decision from the Supreme Court refusing to rein in partisan gerrymandering undermines the nation’s core values of free and fair elections and is hypocritical coming from a conservative court that gutted the Voting Rights Act six years ago. This ruling allows the power of far too many voters – particularly voters of color – to continue to be diluted and only redoubles the commitment of America Votes and our hundreds of progressive partner organizations across the country to win in the states and restore fairness and balance to our nation’s democracy.”
