America Votes’ largest Spring election voter mobilization effort helped to deliver historic turnout and a critical progressive win in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court election. The America Votes-Wisconsin  coalition knocked on over 535,000 doors and made 678,000 phone calls, yielding over 136,000 conversations by the time polls closed. Partner organizations also sent over 4 million text messages and delivered nearly 2  million pieces of mail to Wisconsin voters. The America Votes-Wisconsin coalition is composed of over 40 groups, including Wisconsin Conservation Voters, For Our Future, Power to the Polls, Voces de la Frontera, Working Families Party, Planned Parenthood Advocates of  Wisconsin, and many more.

The America Votes Senior Leproadership Team and Wisconsin State Director issued the following statement today on the results of the 2023 Wisconsin Supreme Court election:

“By electing Judge Janet Protasiewicz, Wisconsin voters have sent a clear message about the kind of state they want to live in. For the first time in 15 years, progressives will lead this highly influential court. The Badger State resoundingly voted for a court majority that will protect the fundamental freedoms of abortion and voting rights, the rights of workers, the LGBTQ+ community, and the right of every Wisconsinite to a high quality public education, clean environment, and fair maps that provide them a meaningful vote and voice in their future.

“America Votes’ Wisconsin coalition of more than 40 groups met this critical moment by organizing our largest-ever field voter mobilization for an April election. Our collective effort delivered half a million door knocks resulting in over 100,000 one-on-one conversations about the Supreme Court and municipal elections. These conversations, especially with voters of color and young voters, contributed significantly to these results and historic turnout for a Spring election. Critically, our coalition also  targeted these voter contacts in the final days toward mayoral elections in Green Bay and Racine, helping defeat extreme MAGA candidates in their attempts to seize control of local election administration.

“This is a victory for Wisconsin and for democracy. America Votes will continue to work year-round in Wisconsin and across our states to empower voters and defend our democracy. As we look toward 2024, we are committed to building progressive power in states and electing representation that is reflective of all Americans.”

Jasmine Nears is the America Votes Wisconsin State Director. The America Votes Senior Leadership Team is comprised of: Greg Speed, President; Sara Schreiber, Executive Director; Daria Dawson, Deputy Executive Director & National Political Director; Heidi Schloesser, Chief Operating Officer; Daniel Gonzales, Director of Planning and Program Analysis; Evan Kost, National Director of Investor Strategy and Program Advisor; Shabab Siddiqui, Director of Data and Targeting; and Josiette White, National Field Director.
