“Judge Jackson’s brilliant legal mind, impeccable character, and unwavering dedication to equal justice under law are precisely what we need on the Court at a time when the very foundations of American democracy are under assault. Her breadth of experience, from the public defender’s office to federal appellate judge, are proof that we can count on Judge Jackson to stand up for the constitutional rights of every person in this country.
“Not only is Judge Jackson eminently qualified to serve on the Supreme Court, we are proud as an organization that she will make history as the first Black woman to ascend to the bench of the nation’s highest court. It is a historic — and long overdue — step forward for representation that reinforces the value of every diverse voice in our democracy. Judge Jackson’s nomination to a lifetime appointment on the highest court in the land is sure to inspire a generation of future leaders to pursue their dreams.
