The America Votes Senior Leadership Team issued the following statement on the results of the 2024 Election:

“Tuesday was a dark day for America. President Trump has been clear that he intends to implement a dangerous policy agenda that will erode our basic rights and dismantle the foundations of our democratic system for the benefit of a small group of his personal allies and fellow billionaires. The policies he has proposed will harm millions of Americans, especially working families, women, and communities of color.

“While we are deeply saddened by the choice America made at the top of the ticket, we are incredibly proud of the work our staff and partners did this cycle and the impact that this work had. We ran our largest program ever by far, investing $200 million to deliver more than 56 million door knocks across the country, including more than 45 million in the seven most contested battleground states. In many of our highest priority, densely populated regions, we delivered high voter turnout that reached or exceeded our program goals.

“This work made a difference. There was a massive red shift from coast to coast, but Trump’s gains in the states where we ran programs were significantly smaller than in other states. Unlike in 2020, Vice President Harris will run ahead of the Democratic ticket’s national vote share in Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

“Our program also contributed to Democrats’ Senate wins in Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, and likely Arizona, as well as major state-level victories in North Carolina, including the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General races.

“The work is not over yet. The America Votes team is continuing to closely monitor results in many critical and very close races. We are preparing for potential recounts and coordinating ongoing efforts to cure ballots in states including Arizona and Nevada and at the district level in Colorado, Minnesota, and others.

“This is a gut-wrenching loss, but we will not lose hope. We will double down on our work. America Votes and our partners are already gearing up to fight for our rights in the states and to build on the work we did this year to engage and activate voters. Every election is a new opportunity to build our coalition, and we intend to use every state and local race for the next two years to set the stage for success in 2026.”
